Apart from the blue body decoration and badge, ordinary observers will not know BMW i4. eDrive35It’s a model. This four-door sedan is not a car, but all-electric, and has the essence of a typical BMW for luxury travel. This means it looks very business.

There is not much decoration, only luxurious necessities. BMW independently developed 210 kW electric drive system, 180kW vehicle charging system and battery technology. It is proudly displayed and called eDrive, which embodies the company’s design language. The sealed batteries in the four modules are strategically bolted to the chassis, which increases the structure and balances the weight packaging. Everything is in its basic position and function.

I like this generation of kidney grille/buck teeth more and more. Automatic leveling is low-key but advanced in function. The shape of the 19-inch wheel conforms to the efficiency, which undoubtedly increases the cruising range by several kilometers, especially when the bottom is flat. And the cooling pipes and air spoilers on the fender and the rear diffuser add several kilometers of cruising range. The frameless door is bordered by beautifully shaped satin metal. Other than that, it has almost no decoration. On the whole, it is not an ugly outline of a luxury coupe. Its appearance is purposeful and tasteful.

In the quiet cabin, elegant and modern decoration is impressive. The standard electric adjustable seat allows you to find a comfortable driving position, especially with extended thigh support. Sensatec perforated interior looks and feels like leather.

The floor is almost flat, five seats have enough legroom, and everyone has a cup holder. The 12.3-inch digital dashboard and the 14.9-inch infotainment screen are large but inconspicuous. The slender central touch screen may be a little hard for the driver to reach, but the iDrive8.5 control wheel on the console makes any adjustment much easier.

Even simpler, because voice commands are available. Still based on the platform, the interface is more like a laptop than a smartphone. The menu is not that deep-you can select a function or mode without going deep into the menu. The Bluetooth connection of smart phones is automatically made after pairing, but wireless phone charging is only effective if there is no phone case.

There is no need to fiddle with wires, because the sound quality of is almost the same as that of wired connection: average. However, it is worth noting that the mute effect brought by the electric drive system allows you to listen to music better without generating too much background noise.

As expected, there is enough trunk space under the electric elevator door to accommodate the largest luggage you can carry.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 is soft and comfortable to drive. It allows you to turn quickly, but this is not the way it drives. It is more suitable for leisurely travel without electric mileage anxiety.

Steering doesn’t feel as bad as some electric systems. In fact, the weight of the steering wheel will be well adapted to the driving mode. It operates like a real car.

Close-range and parking cameras and () are standard configurations. The entry-level i4 is equipped with all safety functions: adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, two-stage driver and passenger, collision warning assistance and driver alertness monitoring.

BMW is preparing to produce more electric cars in the future, and i4 is a convincing choice for managers or professionals who are hesitant to buy electric cars in the garage. Of course, there are more powerful or cheaper electric cars to choose from, but they don’t have driving power, a series of elegant functions, or, more importantly, a circular badge to convey the driver’s identity. Also consider this: the battery warranty is eight years, the vehicle warranty is four years, and the service is free for six years. Not bad at all.
